Dear Parents,

We are thrilled to announce that we’re entering an especially exciting phase in the development of our Gymnasium. Teacher and student interviews are now in full swing, and the energy surrounding our new school is truly inspiring.

It has been a pleasure to meet so many passionate and dedicated teaching candidates eager to bring their expertise to our community. The strong interest from such talented professionals is a testament to the unique educational experience we’re building at Tandem IMS.

Likewise, we have enjoyed meeting prospective students and their families at our first admission interviews and look forward to welcoming more in the coming weeks. These interviews are a wonderful opportunity to connect with motivated young learners, hear about their aspirations, and offer them a glimpse into what life at our Gymnasium will hold.

Thank you to everyone who has shown enthusiasm and support for our journey so far. We are excited to continue sharing updates as we build our new school together.

Kind regards,

Neal Brown, School Director

and the whole Tandem IMS Management Team

    Exam Regulations and Admission Process

Our enrolment rules provide trial days for the youngest classes, Years 5 and 6, as well as entrance examinations for the Progymnasium and Kurzgymnasium. Here are a few key points from these rules:

Children enrolled at Tandem IMS for at least one year, or those from partner schools with an average grade of 4.75 or above, will not be required to sit any exams for our Progymnasium and Kurzgymnasium.

External pupils seeking entry into the Progymnasium (Grade 7) or the first year of the Kurzgymnasium (Grade 9) must first register for an admissions interview with the school management. Following this interview, eligible candidates are required to meet an academic standard with an average grade of 4.75 on their most recent report card. Admission is based on a combined assessment: 50% from prior academic performance and 50% from an entrance examination.

For Progymnasium applicants, the average is calculated from core subjects in the first semester of Grade 6 (Maths, German, French, English, "Gestalten" and "Natur, Mensch, Gesellschaft"), while Kurzgymnasium applicants are evaluated on Grade 8 (or 9) subjects in Maths, German, French, English, "Gestalten" and "Natur und Technik." The entrance exam consists of German (split between a language test and essay) and Maths, and both groups (Pro- and Kurzgymi) must achieve an overall average of 4.75 or higher for eligibility.

Consideration may exceptionally be given to children who clearly show potential, with grades of 4.5 or above, if they particularly excel in the interview.

Regarding the exams and the final decision for admittance: we will be transparent with the results and provide parents with copies of the marked tests. All Maths and German exams will be created and marked by experienced external ZAP Gymnasium teachers.

Admissions interviews are now taking place in November and December.  For all families wishing to register their child for an admission’s Interview (to begin in Year 7 or Year 9 in August 2025), please complete the following Pre-enrolment link. After submitting this, you will receive an email with a link to our booking page where you can make an appointment directly.
