I hope that you are all well and healthy and enjoyed the recent snowy weather! It was very beautiful to look at and so nice to see the children building snowmen and having fun on their sledges! We are already into February and the second semester of the school year - time certainly flies by! We are all looking forward to the Spring and the new possibilities and fresh hopes and ideas that it always brings!
We have been having a great time settling back into our school routine after the Christmas holidays. ’The Lion Inside’ is our new story which we really like and we have even been practising how to roar just like the lion in the book! In addition, we are learning about the different animals in the story and their characteristics as well as trying to find all of the words in the story that rhyme. We have been making our own lion masks, practising rhyming words and playing rhyming games! Outside the classroom we have been having so much fun in the snow, we love making snowmen and going sledging!

We have been very busy discovering and exploring our new classroom set up! Did you know that we are all community helpers - doctors, firefighters, construction workers and many more cool things? We also had a magical Disney week with our friends, the Frogs. Everyone dressed up, even the teachers and it was so exciting to guess who we all were!

We are currently looking at the jobs that our parents do. It would be brilliant if any of our parents could bring in some props for us to use. The main community helpers that we are focusing on are cleaners, firefighters, police, vegetable farmers and teachers.

We have started the new year by welcoming some new friends into our group. Also, some of our friends have moved up to the Frogs group. Our third unit of enquiry is 'Familiar Settings around Me' and here we will be building on the link between home and school. This will focus on our routines, key words and the people around us. We have enjoyed the lovely snow and had such a great time outdoors - please remember to bring weather appropriate clothing and footwear in for the children.
We are informed by the authorities that the new variants/mutations are more contagious, and for this reason, quarantine rules are significantly stricter in these instances. Contact Tracing Teams in such cases must follow up with, not only direct contacts, but also contacts of the direct contacts. It is therefore extremely likely that if a child/family member tests positive for one of these more aggressive mutations, that whole classes will be placed in quarantine at the discretion of the authorities.
Due to this reason, for the health and safety of our entire school community, as well as to avoid significant disruption, we appeal to each and every member of the school community to remain vigilant and to follow all guidelines recommended by the Federal Office of Public Heath (BAG). Once again, if your child, or any member of your household has Covid-19 symptoms, or is thought to have been in contact with someone who is displaying symptoms, please keep your child at home and follow our return to school protocols.
All Tandem IMS Parents can only send their children to school if they can commit to the following (as completed in the Health Declaration):
My child and all other persons living in our household have no symptoms of Covid-19: • sore throat • persistent cough • shortness of breath • chest pain • fever (37.9 degrees or higher) • loss of sense of smell and/or taste • body aches
Our child has not knowingly been in contact with a person who has Covid-19 symptoms within the last 10 days.
No member of our family, or a person who our family has been in contact with, is planning to take a Covid-19 test or is awaiting a Covid-19 test result (either due to having symptoms or because of having been in contact with a person who has tested Covid-19 positive).
Currently, we are running a 48-hour sickness policy. This means that children who experience one or more of the following conditions: fever, vomiting and/or diarrhoea - can only return to school once they have been 48 hours free of symptoms.
Children with a temperature of 37.9 degrees or higher should stay at home (or will be sent home if this develops during the school day).
