We are informed that more than half of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Switzerland are of a mutated variant. For this reason, the authorities no longer make any distinction between variants, however, more strict quarantine rules now come into place in all cases. Please see the general rules below:
Kindergarten 1 to Primary 3
- There is no mask mandate in place for pupils from Kindergarten 1 to Primary 3.
- If a single pupil from one of these classes tests positive, generally the entire class of the infected pupil will be placed in quarantine - including his/her teachers who wear masks.
- If a teacher from one of these classes tests positive, most likely only the teacher in question will be placed in isolation due to the mask mandate. School for this class will most likely be able to continue normally.
Primary 4 to 6
- There is a general mask mandate in place for pupils from Primary 4 to 6.
- If one pupil or teacher tests positive, only that pupil/teacher will be put into isolation. Only people who have been in close contact with the infected person while not wearing a mask will be placed in quarantine. School for the rest of this class may continue normally.
Important Information and Appeal
Although these are the general rules, we must point out that depending on each individual case, and in conjunction with specific advice and orders from the authorities, this suggestion might be adapted.
In case of an entire class being put in quarantine, this class will do home-schooling with work to be completed according to a set plan as directed by the class teachers.
The positive result of a child at school has the potential to bring about serious health problems for many - as well as significant disruption. Although nobody can guarantee not to contract Covid-19, we appeal to everyone that if your child, or member of your household is displaying any Covid-19 symptoms, please keep your child at home until you have received advice from your doctor.
Taking this action will help ensure that the school community remains safe, and will as well reduce the risk of homeschooling being enforced on entire classes.
We thank you again for your continued support!
