The end of our school year is already here! We celebrated this past year together with our graduation parties and performances. You can see photos of our last two months of school here.
July is also sadly the time to say goodbye to Meagan, Kinvara, Tanja, Carmen, and Jenny. Meagan will be moving on to a new chapter in her professional life and I wish her the very best. Kinvara will still be a wonderful part of the Tandem IMS family and will be working in our Zollikon location. I would like to thank Tanja, Carmen, and Jenny for their outstanding support and flexibility in joining our team mid-year. To the full Uetikon team I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you for their hard work, fantastic teaching, and good humour this past year!
We will welcome an additional new face to our Uetikon team in August, and greatly look forward to working with Rafael Tanase over the next school year. Rafael will work as a trainee in Swiss German and will support the Seahorse and Duck groups.
Finally, I would like to thank you, our parents, for your unwavering support in what has certainly been a different and challenging time. We greatly appreciate our strong collaboration and ongoing partnership. Your feedback, particularly in these times, is important to us and we kindly ask you to take part in our annual survey. Do not worry, it only takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. We would appreciate the completion of the survey by Friday, July 16th. Parents who choose to complete the survey are automatically entered into our raffle and may win a family pass to the Zürich Zoo. Good luck!
I wish everyone a lovely and relaxing summer holiday and look forward to welcoming you back for the 2021/22 school year in August.
Currently enrolled Tandem IMS families are given priority, whenever possible, if spaces become available in our Early Years and Pre-School groups. If your family is expecting a new baby, or you are interested in a Tandem IMS space for an older sibling, please inform the school office in a timely manner. As we are already receiving enrolments for the 2022/23 school year, we recommend remaining in close communication with Tabea Siegwart or Julija Jordanova regarding any open spaces and start dates for your growing families.
In June, the Ducks were very active exploring their theme: «You Are What You Eat!» They made very tasty home made pasta and also baked different types of bread with Carmen. During rice week, they learnt all about rice and found out how it is grown. Making rice balls with sticky sushi rice and tasting green crackers (seaweed!) were amusing! During Eat-A-Rainbow-week, the children discovered the benefits of eating a variety of colourful fruits and vegetables. They made many colourful dishes using various fruits and vegetables and also crafted beautiful rainbows. In July, the Ducks will be enjoying their last two weeks at Tandem IMS with the Geckos and the Seahorses. As this is the last newsletter, Carmen, Tabea and I, Yoko, would like to thank you all for this incredible school year and we wish you all the best.
With the end of the year slowly approaching, the Seahorses are engaging in several group activities and regular outdoor outings. We will be saying goodbye to some of our friends and wish them all the best for their next steps! The weather and our music sessions have been great learning and bonding tools for us and have helped us to continuously add more words to our backpacks of knowledge. We look forward to the last weeks of school, summer activities and the holidays ahead! Thank you to all parents for your wonderful support and collaboration this past school year.
We are looking forward to welcoming Tabea back in the new school year after her sabbatical. As of August, Tabea, Julija and Julia will work in the Uetikon office at various percentages throughout the week. Tabea will continue in her role as the Pre-School Ducks teacher and Team Leader, and will remain the main contact person for parents for all pedagogical areas. Julija Jordanova will continue as administration manager and is happy to assist with all administrative matters. Julia Helling will be responsible for the Early Years and Pre-School programmes across our three school locations.
As of Monday, July 12th, we will be returning to our original Tandem IMS sickness policy of being 24-hours symptom free. This means that children who experience one or more of the following conditions: fever, vomiting and/or diarrhoea - can only return to school once they have been 24 hours free of symptoms. Children with a temperature of 37.9 degrees or higher should stay at home (or will be sent home if this develops during the school day). Many thanks for your continued support in this area!
All Tandem IMS Parents can only send their children to school if they can commit to the following (as completed in the Health Declaration):
My child and all other persons living in our household have no symptoms of Covid-19: sore throat, persistent cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, fever (37.9 degrees or higher), loss of sense of smell and/or taste or body aches.
Our child has not knowingly been in contact with a person who has Covid-19 symptoms within the last 10 days.
No member of our family, or a person who our family has been in contact with, is planning to take a Covid-19 test or is awaiting a Covid-19 test result (either due to having symptoms or because of having been in contact with a person who has tested Covid-19 positive).
