We hope that you all enjoyed a wonderful Sports Break, it’s hard to believe that we are in March already! The weather has certainly given us lots to talk about, we seem to have experienced all four seasons over the last few weeks! At last though now we are in March we have some lovely Spring type days with blue sky and sunshine! It also seems as though there is a light at the end of the tunnel regarding Covid-19. Hopefully the vaccinations will get underway and we can return to a sense of normality very soon. In the meantime the children are having lots of fun learning and discovering together. We have also celebrated three special events recently - Chinese New Year, Kite flying and Fasnacht, hope you liked the photos on the Famly App! As you will see below, our Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up very soon, and next week you will receive information from your children’s teachers on how to sign up for the meetings.
We are delighted to announce that as from Thursday, 4 March our ballet ASC will re-start. Due to Covid-19 restrictions we are permitted to run the ballet sessions in two classes as follows:
15:45 - 16:25 Geckos ballet
16:25 - 17:05 Pre-School ballet
We will let you know as soon as piano classes and Playball are able to re-start.
We are so excited as we are starting our new unit and learning all about dinosaurs. This means we are making our own dinosaur sculptures and looking at the different footprints that dinosaurs make. Also we will be discovering volcanoes and making our very own volcano to study.
The Geckos are talking about the different community helpers and what they do for us. We are also starting to get ready for Pre-School now and are practicing a lot of fun things like using scissors to cut out shapes and walking on the rings in pairs. We are doing really well! On Monday, 8 March we are so excited as we are going on our first nature walk for this year!
We are working on Unit 3 and are really enjoying being community helpers. Next week we will be looking at firefighters and then on to maternity nurses and farmworkers. Please check that your little Frogs have weather appropriate clothing for this lovely warm weather so that we can enjoy being outdoors!
We are exploring Familiar Settings Around Us in the third unit of enquiry. This means that we are looking at our daily routine and the link between home and school as well as around the town. We have sent a post on the Famly App asking for photos of the children at home engaged in activities such as eating, playing etc. These photos will complete our family wall and family book. A big thank you to everyone who has already sent photos in and we are looking forward to receiving many more! Please send to krohrbach@tandem-ims.ch. This month we have a few events coming up such as Book Day and Earth Day, look out for the flyers and photos on the Famly App. It seems as though winter has said farewell and spring is on its way, however the weather can change very quickly. In this regard please bring in weather appropriate clothing for the children, layers are always a good idea as it is sometimes cool in the morning and much warmer in the afternoon.
We are informed by the authorities that the new variants/mutations are more contagious, and for this reason, quarantine rules are significantly stricter in these instances. Contact Tracing Teams in such cases must follow up with, not only direct contacts, but also contacts of the direct contacts. It is therefore extremely likely that if a child/family member tests positive for one of these more aggressive mutations, that whole classes will be placed in quarantine at the discretion of the authorities.
Due to this reason, for the health and safety of our entire school community, as well as to avoid significant disruption, we appeal to each and every member of the school community to remain vigilant and to follow all guidelines recommended by the Federal Office of Public Heath (BAG). Once again, if your child, or any member of your household has Covid-19 symptoms, or is thought to have been in contact with someone who is displaying symptoms, please keep your child at home and follow our return to school protocols.
All Tandem IMS Parents can only send their children to school if they can commit to the following (as completed in the Health Declaration):
My child and all other persons living in our household have no symptoms of Covid-19: sore throat, persistent cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, fever (37.9 degrees or higher), loss of sense of smell and/or taste or body aches.
Our child has not knowingly been in contact with a person who has Covid-19 symptoms within the last 10 days.
No member of our family, or a person who our family has been in contact with, is planning to take a Covid-19 test or is awaiting a Covid-19 test result (either due to having symptoms or because of having been in contact with a person who has tested Covid-19 positive).
Currently, we are running a 48-hour sickness policy. This means that children who experience one or more of the following conditions: fever, vomiting and/or diarrhoea - can only return to school once they have been 48 hours free of symptoms.
Children with a temperature of 37.9 degrees or higher should stay at home (or will be sent home if this develops during the school day).
