We hope that you all had a lovely Easter and that the Easter Bunny paid everyone a surprise visit! We celebrated Easter with an egg hunt outdoors and lots of other activities - hope you enjoyed the photos on the App. Our next big event coming up is World Earth Day on 22 April and we have already started recycling and re-using materials and learning the importance of respecting and looking after our planet. As we are now enjoying some typical April weather, with sunshine, rain and even snow, we kindly ask that children have weather-appropriate clothing and footwear. Please also remember to make sure that children have a change of clothes and that any Tandem IMS clothing is returned to us. It was great to see you all at the Parent/Teacher Conferences recently and hope that you are as pleased with your child’s progress as we are.
We are delighted to announce that Playball re-started last week. If you are interested in enrolling your child into Playball or Ballet ASC please contact Beth (eca@tandem-ims.ch).
If you wish to resign please be aware that the resignation date is 30 April for 31 July 2021. This means that we need to have received any resignation letters by 30 April 2021 at the latest.
We are currently visiting the prehistoric era and learning all about our favourite dinosaurs. We have even created our own ‘class dinosaurs’ where we have chosen their characteristics and names. We have also learned how big the T-Rex and Brachiosaurus footprints were and used different objects from the classroom and the forest to measure them. Did you know that the T-Rex footprint is over 50 Lego Duplos long? We have also been working on making our own volcano and soon we will be using science to make it erupt! Coming up soon we will be using shapes and colours to make our own dinosaurs and also learn about what the different dinosaurs ate! We are DINO-mite!!
We have been busy exploring the world of different community workers. We sent out cards to important members of our community and were so happy to receive a gift back from one of the hospitals. Lately, we have started to practice some things for getting ready for Pre-School. We are very excited about the new challenges that this is bringing into our daily routines. We are now getting really good at walking outside in pairs and also at solving tricky riddles and puzzles!
We are re-capping our community helpers unit, which we really enjoyed. We are now getting ready for unit 4 where we will explore space, Planet Earth, the continents and different countries.
We are now finishing our 3rd unit of enquiry with a review of home, school and around the town. We are so happy that we are able to sing again and we have been enjoying circle time singing our favourite songs! This month we will be welcoming two new children into our group and another two children again in May. We are so excited about welcoming in new friends to share in all of our adventures. Our 4th unit of enquiry will begin after Spring Break, this is about nature when we will be exploring nature around us. We will be looking at signs of Spring and learning about a variety of animals and insects.
We are informed by the authorities that the new variants/mutations are more contagious, and for this reason, quarantine rules are significantly stricter in these instances. Contact Tracing Teams in such cases must follow up with, not only direct contacts, but also contacts of the direct contacts. It is therefore extremely likely that if a child/family member tests positive for one of these more aggressive mutations, that whole classes will be placed in quarantine at the discretion of the authorities.
Due to this reason, for the health and safety of our entire school community, as well as to avoid significant disruption, we appeal to each and every member of the school community to remain vigilant and to follow all guidelines recommended by the Federal Office of Public Heath (BAG) as well as the measures mentioned below.
All Tandem IMS Parents can only send their children to school if they can commit to the following (as completed in the Health Declaration):
My child and all other persons living in our household have no symptoms of Covid-19: sore throat, persistent cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, fever (37.9 degrees or higher), loss of sense of smell and/or taste or body aches.
Our child has not knowingly been in contact with a person who has Covid-19 symptoms within the last 10 days.
No member of our family, or a person who our family has been in contact with, is planning to take a Covid-19 test or is awaiting a Covid-19 test result (either due to having symptoms or because of having been in contact with a person who has tested Covid-19 positive).
Currently, we are running a 48-hour sickness policy. This means that children who experience one or more of the following conditions: fever, vomiting and/or diarrhoea - can only return to school once they have been 48 hours free of symptoms. Children with a temperature of 37.9 degrees or higher should stay at home (or will be sent home if this develops during the school day).
