23.04.2021 Zurich Early Years and Pre-School PARENTS' NEWSLETTER
Dear Parents,
We hope this finds everyone well and looking forward to the upcoming spring holidays. April marks the end of our third enquiry unit, with one final unit remaining in our school year. Once we return from spring break, we will begin exploring the natural world around us and discovering the fascinating world of living things. Observing the life cycles of butterflies and ladybugs will certainly be a highlight, and we hope to spend as much time as possible outdoors.
The past month was an exciting time for the Pre-school children. One of the highlights was certainly our Easter celebration. Even to this day the Pre-school children discuss their visits from the Easter bunny and whether or not he hides dinosaur eggs as well as chocolate eggs!
Our dinosaur Unit has slowly come to an end and what a fun adventure it has been, with many learning opportunities along the way. The Pre-schoolers have already started enquiring as to what our next project will be.
Over the course of this year the Pre-School children have shown wonderful compassion and care towards their teachers and also their friends. Currently, we are working on using these strong social and emotional competences to help us solve and overcome conflicts in the classroom independently. Well done, Pre-School!
Nun haben wir unsere Unit auch abgeschlossen. Wir haben uns mit dem Gesellschaftshelfer Bauer sowie mit dem Bauernhof im Allgemeinen beschäftigt. Unsere Aktivitäten basierten darauf, was der Bauer eigentlich alles macht? Wie sieht sein Alltag aus? Was gibt uns der Bauer?
This past month we enjoyed the frequent changes in weather and used our outside time to fully experience the spring season. We started exploring flowers with our senses by picking flowers with our hands and smelling them with our noses. We were also able to incorporate the collected flowers into our artwork. We are excited to continue our exploration of our natural surroundings in the next unit of enquiry all about nature.
All Tandem IMS Parents can only send their children to school if they can commit to the following (as completed in the Health Declaration):
My child and all other persons living in our household have no symptoms of Covid-19: sore throat, persistent cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, fever (37.9 degrees or higher), loss of sense of smell and/or taste or body aches.
Our child has not knowingly been in contact with a person who has Covid-19 symptoms within the last 10 days.
No member of our family, or a person who our family has been in contact with, is planning to take a Covid-19 test or is awaiting a Covid-19 test result (either due to having symptoms or because of having been in contact with a person who has tested Covid-19 positive).
Currently, we are running a 48-hour sickness policy. This means that children who experience one or more of the following conditions: fever, vomiting and/or diarrhoea - can only return to school once they have been 48 hours free of symptoms. Children with a temperature of 37.9 degrees or higher should stay at home (or will be sent home if this develops during the school day).
