31.03.2021 Zurich Early Years and Pre-School PARENTS' NEWSLETTER
Dear Parents,
We hope this finds everyone well and enjoying the start to spring. The children have certainly enjoyed the warmer, sunnier weather during their outdoor time each day, and we hope you can do the same this coming Easter weekend.
Many thanks to all parents for joining the Parent Teacher Conferences. We greatly appreciate your time and engagement in supporting your child's learning and development.
The Pre-School Hedgehogs are loving their current unit which all about dinosaurs. Each week we answer a new question from our dinosaur mind-map. Through activities and special lessons, we are expanding our knowledge of the prehistoric world and learning more about these magnificent animals.
A current discussion taking place in the classroom is how to take better care of our books. The Pre-Schoolers are practicing proper care and handling of their books, while using our book hospital to restore those that are damaged. Over the next few weeks the children will be helping to restore some of the damaged books, to support us in taking responsibility for our classroom items.
As we continued learning about the familiar settings around us, we focused on improving a wide range of skills. Our group has become very interested in getting to know each other and how to treat each other. For this reason, we have focused on showing the children how to be gentle with one another, how to share and even how to help one another. The older children have become very supportive towards their younger friends and often hand them toys, bottles and food. In the next few months leading up to summer we will continue helping the children master new skills such as walking, crawling, trying new words and of course how to treat each other. We are very excited to incorporate these goals into our new unit which will revolve around the topic of nature and give us a chance to explore new objects such as animals, plants and flowers and so much more!
All Tandem IMS Parents can only send their children to school if they can commit to the following (as completed in the Health Declaration):
My child and all other persons living in our household have no symptoms of Covid-19: sore throat, persistent cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, fever (37.9 degrees or higher), loss of sense of smell and/or taste or body aches.
Our child has not knowingly been in contact with a person who has Covid-19 symptoms within the last 10 days.
No member of our family, or a person who our family has been in contact with, is planning to take a Covid-19 test or is awaiting a Covid-19 test result (either due to having symptoms or because of having been in contact with a person who has tested Covid-19 positive).
Currently, we are running a 48-hour sickness policy. This means that children who experience one or more of the following conditions: fever, vomiting and/or diarrhoea - can only return to school once they have been 48 hours free of symptoms. Children with a temperature of 37.9 degrees or higher should stay at home (or will be sent home if this develops during the school day).
