Parent teacher association (PTA)

The Tandem IMS  PTA is an active link between teachers and parents in order to support the school in a wide variety of ways and positively promote school life.

How is the PTA at Tandem IMS organised?

Our PTA meets regularly and is responsible for setting up and supporting hard-working and dedicated volunteer groups that organise and help with enhancing school experiences. We seek input from as wide a spectrum of viewpoints and experiences as possible and ensure that everyone’s contribution is valued.

Our main objective is to work in partnership with Tandem IMS in order to make a positive difference for our children. We work as a team to:

  • Promote a closer link between home and school so as to encourage appreciation and support for what teachers are working to achieve.
  • Promote Tandem IMS by reporting our activities and through positive PR to the wider community.
  • Support and promote the Tandem IMS ethos and values.
  • Organise a wide variety of ways to help with school events, projects, celebrations, etc.
  • Invite the stranger and welcome the newcomer. We strive to develop the Tandem IMS family ethos and encourage parental involvement in the school.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of all personal information that is brought to our attention

What is NOT the role of the Parents Association?

  • To get involved in individual complaints.
  • The day-to-day running of the school.
  • Curriculum.
  • Appointment of teachers.
  • Carrying out activities without consultation with School Management.
  • Portraying the school, its staff, the Board of Management, and pupils in a negative manner.

How is PTA money spent?

The PTA group is solely responsible for the PTA funds and we endeavour to be efficient and effective when investing in school projects. We provide ‘extras’, often 'fun things' that make learning and life at Tandem IMS more interesting and exciting for children, parents, and staff alike.

How can I be involved in my PTA?

There are many different ways you can help with the PTA. You can be sure of a warm welcome and appreciation whether you have lots of time to offer or not. Some roles are time-consuming, although also rewarding, but certainly not all. If you can’t commit to a big job, look out for things you can get involved in less frequently. You can always support PTA events by simply turning up and having fun with us! If you wish to volunteer for school events, or if you have suggestions or comments on the working of the PTA, please feel free to contact any PTA member. For administrative simplicity in a multi-lingual school such as ours, our working language is English.
