At our school, we take immense pride in the remarkable success of our pupils in a range of standardised tests and assessments. It is a testament to the commitment and dedication of our students, teachers, and parents, who work together to foster a culture of excellence. In this blog, we will delve into the strategies and factors that contribute to our pupils' outstanding achievements in tests across various subjects.
One of the cornerstones of our academic excellence is our comprehensive assessment system. We believe in continuous evaluation, which helps us track progress and make data-driven decisions. We conduct regular class assessments in core subjects such as German, English, Maths, Enquiry, and French. These assessments have clear guidelines and tracking progress systems for teachers, students, and parents, ensuring that everyone is on the same page when it comes to learning and development.
In addition to class assessments, we implement two major assessment programs: UK SATs for students in Grades 2 to 6 and the Swiss Lernlupe for Grades 3 to 6. These standardised tests not only provide valuable insights into our students' performance but also help us benchmark against national and international standards, ensuring that our teaching meets and exceeds expectations.
Transparency and communication are vital to our educational approach. We host parent-teacher conferences twice a year to keep parents informed of their child's progress. These meetings are complemented by detailed progress reports, providing a comprehensive overview of a student's academic achievements and areas for improvement. These reports are tailored to different grade levels, allowing for meaningful assessment, feedback, and goal setting. In addition, the children learn the art of preparing for tests by becoming familiar with clear learning and assessment goals.
We encourage our students to take an active role in their learning journey. Throughout the year, children are encouraged to self-reflect on their learning and skills. Academic portfolios are created at the end of each school year, showcasing a student's progress. These portfolios serve as a keepsake for parents, reflecting on their child's growth over an academic year.
Learning a foreign language is a significant achievement, and we are proud to prepare our students for French exams starting in 3rd Grade. Success in these exams not only showcases linguistic proficiency but also helps students become accustomed to external examinations. This experience is valuable for future entrance exams and other assessments.
Our pupils' success in standardised tests is a source of pride for our school community. Here is a concise summary.
In English, an astonishing 97% of our students achieved the UK expected standards at their year group level in Reading Comprehension and Grammar and Punctuation. Furthermore, 51% scored in the above-average category in Reading, and 44% in Grammar and Punctuation.
